Usapho Indlu’s first Annual General Meeting was a great success.
The event was opened by Catherine Fourie (chairperson) who welcomed the 31 adults and 24 children who attended the first (of many) annual general meeting. Bishop Oscar Bukula, the pastor of the church that Neziswa Matiso (Field director) attends in Thembalethu, led the encouraging devotional time. He reminded the Usapho Indlu team that the seed they are carrying and planting is an incorruptible and imperishable seed. He also believes that the team are agents of transformational change in his community as they represent Christ to all the members of the households in 36th street.
Director Sally Versfeld shared about the vision of Usapho Indlu over the initial months since its inception in February 2021. This included, but was not limited to, building relationships with the households in 36th Street, growing gardens, studying God’s word together, being examples “to a broken world that God is in control and He is the one who brings the change…[and] gives us purpose and defines our identity.”
Andy Moss (board member) explained the role of the Greenlight Movement surveys that were done at the end of 2021 with 12 households. The feedback from these surveys help Usapho Indlu towards enriching the lives of the households who are embracing Usapho Indlu. Neziswa concluded the report by sharing how God had worked in her heart and mind as she embraced His plans and purposes for her as she served her community.
Grade 11 learner Somila Matiti shared her testimony and afterwards the Usapho Indlu children sang a moving song. This was followed by the financial report feedback and thanks to the volunteers and all those supporting Usapho Indlu.
