In July 2022, a group of volunteers helped a few of the Usapho Indlu families spruce up their gardens and homes in celebration of Madiba Day.
Six months later, the hard work of families like Mbali’s to build on what the volunteers did, shows “transformation that is tangible,” says Director Sally Versfeld.
Mbali and her three sisters / cousins live with their grandparents whose home was repainted in July. A leaking tap was fixed and a beginning was also made to their food garden.
From that small seed, an amazing harvest is being reaped. The girls are doing an amazing job in keeping their food supply going, repairing fences and making good use of the compost bin supplied by the local Municipality.
