Partnering is so valuable, and builds relationships and community. One of the characteristics of partnership is mutual benefit where both parties are actively involved and the rewards are visible and measurable. Pastor Matiti is active in our street community, and leads the Holy Trinity Ministries church. Her family are part of our programmes with her children attending on a daily basis. They need assistance with homework as well as life skills training and we have been supporting her in areas of need in her household. She is part of our adult Bible Study which is held every Thursday in her church. Usapho Indlu does not have premises and our partnership with Pastor Matiti is now growing into a valuable asset with so many people benefitting directly. We have the use of her church building throughout the week, and it is now an active hub of hope in the community!
Not only do the parents of our children attend her church services on Sundays, she allows her building to be used for various other Usapho Indlu Projects in the community. Health and Nutrition training is held in the church twice a month and is attended by adults, youth and children. Our Education Centre for the Afterschool Programme operates out of her church building every day. We have planted a Food Garden on the church property to provide for her and her congregation members. Our next project will be to assist her in repairing the roof of her house, which is covered by thick plastic and leaks when it rains. We are planning to replace the plastic with roof sheets before the winter sets in (end of May in George, South Africa)!
This is a win-win situation. So many families are benefitting because Usapho Indlu and Pastor Matiti agreed to work together to build the Kingdom of God in Thembalethu, sharing resources and meeting the needs of the households together.
