We have been so privileged to have a team of 18 students, led by Ethnos leaders Mignon and Matthias Nottling, work with our community for six weeks. Every Friday the team visited Zone 7 in Thembalethu and led worship, ministry, drama, games and even assisted in the food security project, helping in our Community Food Gardens.
Neziswa, Veronicca and Thandi, our staff members were so blessed to learn from the team and witness how they treated every community member with such love, dignity and respect.
The group were divided into three ministry teams and one of the highlights was the intentional one-on-one sessions with our adults, just listening to them, hearing their stories and praying with them individually.
Neziswa commented: “These sessions were very intentional, as it is always good to have people from outside come and confirm what we have been sharing with our people. I also love that they faithfully came for six weeks, which meant the people looked forward to their return and were able to build relationships.”
The theme of their two Bible studies was ‘the love of God’. The Ethnos team divided our beneficiaries into six groups, each with a leader, teaching them the value of redemption and restoring God’s people through the love He has for each one of them.
“The Ethnos team served wholeheartedly, blessed our beneficiaries with New Testament bibles and on the last day we were all very emotional, as we shared cake and fellowship, and we would love to see them again,” added Nesizwa.
